Matthew 5:21-26 | You Have Heard it Said
The Sermon on the Mount continues.
You have heard it said. Jesus uses this phrase to take on the institutational religious teachings of His day. He is not challenging the Bible but the bad teachers of the Bible.
The Pharisees and the Religious leaders of the day had taken the Law and turned it into a statement of righteousness. They then taught others how they could be sinless before God. Jesus takes back the Law and shows what it really means. That there is no one sinless, no not one and everyone needs a Savior.
