The Beatitudes – Our Attitudes for Life

Calvary Catonsville Church: The Sermon on the Mount continues with Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the Pure in Heart for they shall see God. Jesus was not speaking of a sinless heart in this Beatitude but one that is not divided. God gives us a new heart when we are saved by Jesus, one that is not of stone but of flesh. He then gives us the desire to follow Him. He gives us the ability and desire to live a holy life. The next step is up to us. Do we want the things of the world more than we want the things of God?
